Why I moved my website from Wordpress to Notion

March 08, 20233 min read

Recently, I moved my website from Wordpress to Notion. While Wordpress offers many powerful and advanced features, I found managing a Wordpress website to be too time-consuming. By using Notion and Super.so, I was able to create a lightning-fast, responsive, and customizable website that is easy to maintain. In this post, I outline the basic steps for creating a website on Notion and conclude that moving to Notion was one of the best decisions I have made for my website.

For years I’ve been a fan of Wordpress and Elementor when it comes to building websites. Together these tools offer a wide range of customization options, making it possible to create a professional-looking website without coding knowledge.

However, as my business grew and I was spending more and more time serving clients, all the work around managing a Wordpress website was just no longer efficient: updating plugins, managing backups, having to log into a separate platform just to change some simple wording on a page - not to mention all the money I was paying for the tens of plugins I used.

And even though I could delegate some of the work to my team, having so many steps to manage around such basic thing as a website, just felt inefficient.

But then I realized that I could build my website using the same tool where everything else in my business was already running: Notion. While I was first hesitant about losing some of the advanced features Wordpress offers, the simplicity of using Notion for website management ultimately convinced me to make the switch.

Benefits of Notion for Website Creation

Notion is a versatile tool that can be used for managing almost any work and information.

What many people don’t know is that by combining Notion with a tool such as Super.so, you can use it to create a website that is lightning fast, responsive, customizable - and extremely easy to maintain.

When building your website like this, you can use Notion as your Content Management System (CSM), where all content is automatically pulled from. Then Super.so allows you to use a custom domain, SSL certificate, SEO optimization features, and templates or CSS to customize the way your website looks.

Overall, this is an easy way to create professional online presence without spending a lot of time and money on web development.

How to Create a Website on Notion

Creating a website on Notion is easier than you might think. Here are the basic steps:

  1. Create Notion pages and sub-pages for your website content.

  2. Customize the layout of your pages in Notion.

  3. Embed media files, such as images, audio, and videos as needed.

  4. Use a tool like Super.so, Simple.ink, or Potion.so to layer on CSS, SEO optimization, custom URL, tracking pixels, analytics, etc.

Conclusion

Moving my website from Wordpress to Notion was one of the best decisions I've made. Notion has made it easy to manage and update my website content. I no longer have to spend hours dealing with plugin updates and dread having to go through so much trouble publishing a blog post or updating one sentence on a landing page. And never before did my website score 97/100 on Google Speed Test.
